Вацлав Евгеньевич Гебельт
(1913 – 1999)
Филолог по образованию, жил в г. Лида Гродненской области. С 1933 года опубликовал 600 задач всех жанров. Отличия получили более 300 произведений, в том числе более 140 награждены призами, из них 53 – первыми. Победитель 5-го личного первенства СССР по разделу двухходовых задач и многих личных и командных первенств Беларуси. Дважды становился чемпионом СССР и ещё пять раз призёром всесоюзных соревнований в составе сборной БССР. Чемпион мира в составе сборной СССР, победитель Олимпийских конкурсов в Лейпциге 1960 г.по разделу кооперативных задач и в Москве 1980 г. по разделу двухходовок. Международный мастер с 1977 года. В «Альбомах ФИДЕ» напечатано более 40 задач. Был судьёй крупных всесоюзных и международных соревнований, «Альбомов ФИДЕ». В 1959 году ему присвоено звание Международного арбитра ФИДЕ по шахматной композиции. В разные годы редактировал шахматные отделы во многих изданиях. Являлся членом Лидской городской федерации шахмат. Один из авторов книги «Шахматная композиция в Белоруссии».

A philologist by education, he lived in the city of Lida, Grodno region. Since 1933 published 600 problems of all genres. Differences received more than 300 works, including more than 140 awarded prizes, 53 of them first. Winner of the 5th USSR Individual Championship in the division of twomovers and many personal and team championships in Belarus. Twice he became the champion of the USSR and five more times as a prize-winner of all-Union competitions in the national team of the BSSR. The world champion in the USSR national team, the winner of the Olympic competitions in Leipzig in 1960 under the division of helpmates and in Moscow in 1980 on the division of the twomovers. International master since 1977. In "FIDE Albums" more than 40 problems have been printed. He was a judge of major all-Union and international competitions, "FIDE Albums". In 1959 he was awarded the title of International FIDE referee on chess composition. In different years he edited chess departments in many publications. He was a member of the Lida City Chess Federation. One of the authors of the book "Chess composition in Belarus."
